Watering your garden can be time-consuming, but you can make a DIY drip irrigation system using old plastic bottles. Poke small holes in the sides of the bottles and bury them near your plants with the neck sticking out of the ground. Fill the bottles with water, and they will slowly release moisture into the soil, keeping your plants hydrated without overwatering.
Weeds can be a major nuisance in the garden. Instead of buying expensive herbicides, use vinegar as a natural weed killer. Pour vinegar directly on weeds, being careful to avoid your plants, as vinegar can harm them too. This simple gardening hack helps you save money and keeps your garden chemical-free.
Mulching helps retain soil moisture and suppress weeds, but commercial mulch can be pricey. An inexpensive alternative is to use old newspapers.
