Fagradalsfjall erupted in March 2021 after being dormant for over 6,000 years. Located near the capital city of Reykjavik, the eruption was preceded by weeks of intense seismic activity.
Unlike explosive eruptions, Fagradalsfjall’s eruption was a relatively gentle lava flow, attracting thousands of visitors who came to witness the breathtaking sight of molten rock spilling across the landscape.
